The inaugural edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) kick-started in the year 2016. The T20 extravaganza has been a breeding ground for young and upcoming talent to showcase their might on the big stage. Also, one has witnessed many top-drawer international stars feature in the marquee event and stamp their authority on the cricket field.
A total of seven editions of the T20 carnival have been played thus far and Islamabad United are the most successful team in the tournament, clinching the title on two occasions. They won the first edition and then stood victorious in the 2018 season.
In the previous edition, Lahore Qalandars under the leadership of Shaheen Afridi defeated Multan Sultans in the final showdown to grab the silverware for the very first time. Mohammad Hafeez was the hero of the summit clash for his incredible all-round performance while Multan’s skipper Mohammad Rizwan was the Player of the Series for his sensational batting displays throughout the tournament.
The previous seasons of the Pakistan Super League have witnessed teams giving their all on the cricket field and not much has been there to separate the sides. Thus, one has seen some exhilarating cricket and PSL match prediction has been difficult. Lahore Qalandars will have their task cut out as they bid to defend their crown in PSL 2023 and become the first-ever PSL franchise to do so. The eighth edition of the T20 carnival will commence on February 13 and Shaheen & co. will lock horns with Multan Sultans in the opening game. The iconic encounter will take place at the Multan Cricket Stadium. The Final of the upcoming edition is slated to be held on March 19.
